Bringing over 15 years of experience working with youth and families in nonprofits, including 2 years as a Foster Care Treatment Coordinator, Angel Chandler joined the Boys and Girls Club of Henderson County team as the Teen Operations Director in 2019. Angel has an extensive background in grant management, strategic planning, behavioral supports, social emotional learning and restorative practices. Leading by example and with integrity are two important aspects of Angel's leadership style. While working for the YMCA of Western North Carolina in 2019, Angel won the "Emerging Afterschool Champion" award from the North Carolina Center for Afterschool Programs, an award given "in recognition of efforts to ensure that all North Carolina children and youth have access to high-quality afterschool and expanded learning programs". She was also nominated for the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce WomanUP "Outstanding Woman Nonprofit Leader" award in 2019.
